The challenge
A single-guarded-entrance community whose gate system and relays were still sound but had no way for residents to pre-authorize guests, and no clear owner for the guardhouse technology.
What we did
We installed a cloud visitation system that works with the existing gate system and relays, with gate workstations and a QR code scanner at the guardhouse. We added video surveillance with license plate recognition and a live-feed monitor, and a firewall, Wi-Fi and network switch, with power protection and first-responder access. Gate motors are included in the scope we maintain.
The result
Residents authorize vendors and guests from a phone app or web browser without a call to the guard; a pre-registered visitor passes with a one-time QR scan whose expiration the resident controls, and any credential unused for 365 days deletes automatically. The HOA has one technology and security partner from its annual internet review to its gate motors and guard kiosk — no finger-pointing. The guardhouse is protected from power and weather surges, camera access is simple for anyone with permission, and the video system runs analytics including tailgating.
